Shirley M. Svetaka

NEW SALEM- Shirley M. (Godfrey) Svetaka, 89, passed away on May 24, 2017 at Athol Hospital.
She grew up in New Salem and retired there in 1982.
She was born in New Salem February 2, 1928, the daughter of Elsie (Carlson) and Wallace Godfrey Sr.
In 1945, Shirley graduated from New Salem Academy.
She was the wife of Joseph Svetaka, who predeceased her.
She leaves a daughter, Roslyn Pedreira of Clermont, FL; a son, Mark Svetaka of New Salem; one granddaughter, Sonja Kun of Alexander, NC; and one great grandson.
There are no calling hours or formal services.
There will be a celebration of life on Monday afternoon, May 29th  from 3-5 p.m.,  at her home at 178 West Street, New Salem, MA 01355 for friends and family.
The family will have a private graveside service at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Turners Falls.
