Marion L. McNeil
ORANGE- Marion Lois (Burnes) McNeil, 94, of 383 East River Street, died Sunday morning, June 24, 2012 at Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol, following an illness.
Born in Athol on September 17, 1917, she was a daughter of Charles and Annie (Blackmer) Burnes and grew up in Orange.
Marion was married to James J. McNeil who died in 1990.
She was employed by the Slencil Company in Orange as an assembler for eight years, retiring in 1979. Marion had previously worked 15 years at the J. A. Tepper Company in Orange.
A member of the Community Church of North Orange and Tully, Marion was also a member of the Orange Senior Citizens Club, King James Court Association, the Orange Historical Society, the Sewing Club, and the Orange TRIAD where she served on the Assault Council.
Survivors include a son, Robert McNeil of Athol; a daughter, Jeanne Boyer and her husband, Ed, of St. Augustine, FL; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister, Gladys Jaquith of Brattleboro, VT; and several nieces.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Evelyn Fournier, and brother Harold Burnes.
A calling hour will be held on Wednesday morning June 27th, from 10-11 a.m. at Witty’s Funeral Home in Orange.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning, June 27th, at 11:00 a.m. in Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange, with the Rev. Jean Thompson of the Community Church of North Orange and Tully officiating.
Interment will follow in Tully Cemetery, Orange.
