ORANGE- David Reynolds Chapman, 70, of Orange, MA, passed away on March 25, 2024, after complications from a fall last August. Born on October 23, 1953, he was predeceased by his beloved wife Linda in May 2021.
From Sharon, CT, David was a Cub Scout leader and volunteer fireman in New Hartford, CT for years. Ski Sundown employed him and he spoke of it all his life. In 1994, Dave suffered a near fatal car accident that resulted in the loss of an eye and a traumatic brain injury. He could not work again but spent his life giving of himself to those in need. His volunteer hours included food pantries, churches, senior centers, Community Meal Programs, and more.
He was a proud veteran and served as Chaplain as well as Past Commander of the Athol American Legion. His hobbies included assembling models, and collecting baseball cards and fire trucks, and loved all things NASCAR.
David is survived by his children, Juanita Merrill and Niklaas Chapman of Torrington, CT, stepsons, Nathaniel Dillenback and wife Jacki of Millers Falls, MA, and Robert Dillenback of Charlton, MA; grandchildren, Kathryn Barefield and husband Drew from Temecula, CA, Daniel Dillenback and wife Lee of Springfield, VA, Rachael Dillenback of Turners Falls, MA, Raffaela and Gabriella Dillenback of Worcester, MA. There are 5 great grandchildren, Rhiannon Smith, Aiden, Cadence, and Charlotte Dillenback, and Josephine Barefield.
A calling hour will be held on April 3, 2024 from 10- 11 a.m. at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.
A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
Interment will follow in South Cemetery, Orange.
