Doris Ora (Russell) Caouette

PETERSHAM- Doris Ora (Russell) Caouette (82) of Petersham, MA passed away on April 4, 2024, after a yearlong battle with cancer.

She was born in Gardner in 1941 to Clarence and Mabel (Cutler) Russell. Dorrie graduated from Mahar Regional High School in 1959, before going to work as an Operating Room Tech Nurse in Athol Hospital.

Dorrie married Richard Caouette in 1966, and they resided in Petersham for their 53 years together. She “retired” from nursing to raise her family in 1967.

Dorrie’s many activities included, taking care of her family (including many foster children), farming, gardening, newspaper delivery and travelling the United States. She was an active “behind the scenes” church mouse at the Orthodox Congregational Church of Petersham for many years.

Dorrie was predeceased by her parents, Clarence and Mabel Russell and husband, Richard Caouette.

She is survived by daughters, Dawn Caouette and Diona Laford (Robert), all of Petersham, a brother, William Russell, and several nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be planned by the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Orthodox Congregational Church, Capital Improvement Fund, P.O. Box 183, Petersham, MA 01366.
