WINCHENDON- Robert Hale Willard, 87, of Joslin Road, died Saturday afternoon, April 6, 2024 at home following an illness, with his son Jacob at his side.
Born in Athol on April 18, 1936, he was the son of Leon and Dorothy Willard and grew up in Athol, graduating from Athol High School in 1954. Robert was a member of the Army ROTC and went to college at Northeastern University.
Robert was a self employed insurance salesman for many years.
A resident of Marblehead, Robert has lived in Winchendon the past 30 years.
An outdoorsman, Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, golf, motorcycling and camping. He especially enjoyed time with his numerous bird dogs over the years.
Robert was a very funny, likable and kind man and will be sadly missed.
Survivors include his son Jacob Chaffee of Winchendon with whom he lived with, along with his other sons, Brandon Chaffee and Bryan Chaffe, both of Ware; along with the mother of his sons, Viola Chaffee of Ware.
Besides his parents, Robert was predeceased by his sons, Scott Willard and Robert Chaffee, as well as a brother, William Willard.
There are no calling hours or services at this time.
