Charlotte H. Hinds

ORANGE- Charlotte H. (Putnam) Hinds, 91, of 519 East River Street, died Friday, May 4, 2018 at the Buckley Healthcare Center in Greenfield.

Born in Orange on September 21, 1926, she was the daughter of A. Percy and Madeline (Timmins) Putnam and grew up in Orange, graduating from Orange High School in 1944.

On February 8, 1945, Charlotte married Stanley Hinds and they enjoyed over 65 years of marriage together until his death on December 20, 2010.

Charlotte was employed by Erving Paper Mills for 32 years, retiring in 1987.

A member of the First Universalist Church in Orange for over 50 years, she was also a member of the church’s Unity Club. Charlotte was also a member of the Orange Senior Citizens Club.

Charlotte enjoyed playing cards, knitting, doing cross word puzzles, needle work, traveling, and most of all, her family.

Survivors include children, Sandra Ouellette of Holliston, S. Scott Hinds and his wife, Pam, of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Barbara MacKnight and her husband, Steve, of Montague; grandchildren, Donald Lyman of Carbondale, Colorado, Casey Lyman of Mount Airy, North Carolina, Tyson MacKnight of Bernardston, Robert Ouellette of Holliston, Sherry Rinsche of Austria, and Mackenzie Sorensen of Eagle Mountain, Utah; 7 great grandchildren with one more arriving in September; and several nieces and nephews.

Charlotte was also predeceased by a son, Stephen Hinds in 1972, and a daughter, Suzanne Miller in 2001; a grandson, Walter Lyman III; a sister, Katherine Jonilionas; and brothers, Norman Putnam and Richard Putnam.

There are no calling hours or formal services and interment in South Cemetery, Orange, will be private.
