ORANGE- Christopher Edward Black, age 67, passed away peacefully February 13 at his home in Orange MA.
Born September 1, 1950 in Glen Cove NY, he attended St. Paul’s School and graduated from Boston University with a teaching degree. He first taught Special Education at Fernald School, Waltham MA, then moved to St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands where he taught for many years, thoroughly enjoying the Cruzian culture and lifestyle. Returning to NY, he became certified as a nuclear medicine technologist, and had a long career in medical imaging technology at Eastern and Central Massachusetts hospitals until his retirement in 2016.
Passionate about gardening, he enjoyed beautiful flower and vegetable gardens wherever he lived. He also loved hiking, sailing, travelling, reading, and partying with friends and family. He lived in Royalston MA for many years before moving to Orange, where he realized his dream of designing and building his own house.
Chris is predeceased by his partner Bob Gravley, and parents Ross and Marie Black of Waterford CT. Survived by his cousin Jane Ellingford, he is remembered as a kind, generous and beloved brother and brother-in-law to Jane Black and Greg Olson of Chicago, and a beloved uncle and godfather to Elise Olson of Vancouver.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 3 p.m. at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.
