Elizabeth A. Palace Hozempa

Elizabeth A. Hozempa ORANGE- Elizabeth A. Palace Hozempa, 83, of 383 East River Street, died on Wednesday, April 21, 2004 at the University of Massachusetts Memmorial Healthcare- Campus, in Worcester following an illness. Born in Newark, New Jersey on March 29, 1921, a daughter of John and Catherine Kuduk Palace. She graduated from Weequiakic High School and Saint James School of Nursing, both in Newark, New Jersey. She was married to Raymond I . Hozempa on December 25, 1943 and enjoyed fifty years of marriage. They moved to Orange late in 1969. Raymond died on July 22, 1994. A registered nurse, she worked briefly as a nurse before becoming a full time mother. A former member of the Athol-Orange Lodge of Elks Emblem Club, she also was a life member of Charles Musante Chapter, and the Disabled American Veterans of Athol. An avid reader, she was a loving mother who enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and word searches as well as spending time with her family. Survivors include her sons, Raymond J. Hozempa of Newfane, VT, Alan A. Hozempa of Harrisville, NH, James J. Hozempa of Warren, RI, John B. Hozempa of Orange, and Michael W. Hozempa of Milford, MA; a daughter, Elizabeth J. Johnson of New Salem; a sister, Helen Gorbas of Palm Harbor, Florida; a brother, William Palace of Holmdel, NJ; ten grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. A son, Richard D. Hozempa, died in 1970. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. in St. Mary's Church, 19 Congress Street, Orange, with the Rev. Fr. William Lunney officiating. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:45 A.M. prior to the Mass in Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.
