Everett L. Porter

Everett L. Porter ORANGE- Everett L. Porter, 77, of 202 Daniel Shays Highway, died Thursday evening, November 16, 2006, at Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield, following an illness. Born on January 8, 1929 in Errol, New Hampshire, a son of Merrill and Lydia Sweat Porter. He was married to Virginia F.Richardson on May 7, 1948 and had enjoyed 58 years together. Following high school, Everett served in the United States Navy. He was Honorably discharged from the Navy. Everett had worked for Gilford of Maine for a number of years. He previously had worked at Franklin Medical Center, the former Greenfield Tap and Die Co., Rodney Hunt Company of Orange, the former Fredette's in Athol, and the former Union Twist Drill in Athol. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as birdwatching. Survivors include his wife Virginia Porter of Orange; daughters, Jacqueline Porter and Susan Porter, both of Greenfield; four grandchildren, Justin and Gage Butcher, and Jonathan and Dan Cooley; a sister, Margaret Beckham of Louisiana; his brothers, Eugene Veretti of Neveda, Leon Veretti of Massachusetts, Alden Veretti of Texas, and Philip Veretti of New Hampshire. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday morning, November 22, 2006 at 11:00AM in the Plainview Cemetery in Leverett. Rev. Larry Riddle will officiate. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, Massachusetts 02472.
