Gerald A. Parsons Sr.
ATHOL- Gerald A. “Gerry” Parsons Sr., 82, of Riverbend Woods, Daniel Shays Highway, died peacefully early Thursday morning, September 20, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Leverett on March 12, 1936, he was a son of the late Francis and Lena (White) Parsons and grew up in Orange, graduating from Orange High School.
On February 22, 1964, Gerry married Priscilla (Valley) and they have enjoyed over 54 years of marriage and raising their family.
Gerry served four years in the Air Force, as well as the Army National Guard.
Employed by Athol Hospital for over 30 years before retiring, Gerry had also served on the Orange Fire Department 30 years as well.
A member of Saint Mary’s Church in Orange, he also was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Boy Scouts.
Gerry loved his time with the family, especially on vacations. Gerry also enjoyed fishing.
Gerry is survived by his loving wife, Priscilla Parsons of Athol; sons, Douglas Parsons(Joni) of Montague and Gerald Parsons Jr. (Karen) of Orange; daughters, Pamela Bellar of Orange and Dawn Parsons of Athol ; grandchildren, Michael, Adam (Nikki), Rosie, Tina, Ashley and Paige; great grandchildren, Emily, Riley, Addalyn and Jordan ; sisters Vera Whittemore of Gardner and Thelma Fox of Dover, DE.
Besides his parents, Gerry was predeceased by brothers, Ernest, Gordon, Ralph, and Glen, as well as sisters, Edis and Beverly.
There are no calling hours.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 10 a.m. in South Cemetery, 585 South Main Street, Orange, with Fr. Shaun O’Connor of Saint Mary’s Church of Orange officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Saint Mary’s Endowment Fund, 19 Congress Street, Orange, MA 01364.
