ATHOL- Glenn R. Frenette, 71, of 494 School Street, passed away on January 1, 2018 at Heywood Hospital in Gardner, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Winchendon September 29, 1946, he was the son of the late Raymond J. and Geralda (Chiasson)(Frenette) Duda, and grew up in Athol, graduating from Athol High School in 1964.

Glenn served the United States Navy during the Vietnam era from 1964, earning the rank of BM3 on November 16, 1966, and was honorably discharged from the Naval Reserve on February 26, 1970.

Glenn's first wife was Marie (MacDonald), and his second wife was Brenda (Meuse)(Bachelder).

A resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma for 2 years, Glenn returned to Athol where he lived the rest of his life.

Glenn worked at Starrett's and was a truck driver for over 20 years before retiring.

He was a very active member of the Athol American Legion Post 102, past Commander and Treasurer, and took part in many Legion and community activities including parades and providing honor guard and firing squad duties for military funerals and ceremonies.

He loved to fish and go camping, and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his children, Glenn Frenette II and his wife, Tonya, of Lowell, Stephanie Bachelder of Athol, Richard Bachelder and his companion, Carol, of Gardner; a brother, Paul Frenette and his wife, Joan, of Windsor, Connecticut; his second wife, Brenda, of Athol; 2 nephews, Dan Frenette and his wife, Tracy, and Drew Frenette and his wife, Kasia, and their families; grandchildren, Madeline, Derrek and Robert; many cousins and their families; close friends, Bruce and Judy Powell and other neighbors from School Street Apartments.

Glenn was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Geralda; his step father, Fred Duda; and his first wife, Marie (MacDonald) Hale.

There are no calling hours.

A committal service with military honors will be held at a later date, in warmer weather, at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glennallen Street, Winchendon.

Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange, is directing the arrangements.
