ATHOL- Glenn T. Matthews Jr., "Squeaky", 65, of 71 Sanders Street, died unexpectedly on Sunday morning, November 19, 2017 at Athol Memorial Hospital after being stricken ill earlier at home.

Born in Greenfield on March 12, 1952, he was a son of the late Glenn T. Sr. and Rosemary H. (Bezio) Matthews. He grew up in Warwick and graduated from Franklin County Vocational School in 1971.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Tracy Matthews of Athol; a son, Andrew Matthews of Athol; step daughter, Jennifer Rahaim of Gardner; step sons, Nicholas Rahaim and Thomas Rahaim, both of Winchendon; grandchildren, Kaelyn Gabrilla and Alexia Hicks; brothers Randall “Randy” Matthews, wife Karen, of Orange, Michael Matthews of Atkinson, New Hampshire, and Stanley Matthews, wife Betty, of Wareham; sisters, Diana Tandy, husband Dana, of Warwick, Fay Session, husband Todd, of Leyden, Gail Harty, husband Tom, of Athol and Elise Tandy, husband Richard, of Orange; several nephews and nieces; and in laws Richard and Judith Rathburn of Orange.

Glenn had worked for the Nichols and Stone Company in Gardner as a Machine Operator/Sander for 7 years and had also worked at the former Duall Plastics in Athol.

He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and enjoyed spending time with family.  He also enjoyed gardening, and sports and was an avid sports card collector.

There are no calling hours.

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 4 p.m. at the Metcalf Memorial Chapel,  32 Athol Road, Warwick, with Rev. Dan Dibble officiating.

Following the service, a reception will be held in the Warwick Town Hall, on the common, Warwick.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the funeral home towards the funeral expenses either by mail or on the online obituary, clicking the donation button.
