ORANGE- Herbert E. Bushee, 94, of East River Street, died Sunday morning, November 12, 2017 at Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol, surrounded by family
Born in Ashburnham on December 24, 1922, he was the youngest son of the late Joseph and Mattie Bushee and grew up in Royalston on the family farm.
Herbert served in the United States Army on February 10, 1943 during World War Two and was honorably discharged on March 11, 1946.
Following his service in the Army, Herbert attended the University of Massachusetts in Amherst where he earned a degree in Civil Engineering.
In 1951, he married Bernyce K. (Ordesky) and they enjoyed 60 years of marriage until her death on March 20, 2011.
Herbert worked as a civil engineer for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Transportation in the Northampton office for many years before retiring. Following his retirement from the State, he delivered vehicles for Toyota until 2008.
Herbert had enjoyed golfing, cooking and reading. He also enjoyed woodworking, having made furniture and toys for family members.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Boutall of Orange; a son Dennis Goselin and his wife, Diane, of Holden; eight grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; two great, great grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
Besides his parents, Herbert was predeceased by his siblings, Perley, George, Arthur, Beatrice, Nina, and Irene; and a son in law, David B. Boutall.
There are no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.
Interment, with military honors, will follow in South Cemetery, Orange.
