Jo Ann Preece

ORANGE-  Jo Ann (Artley) Preece, 90, died November 26, 2017 at Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol, following complications from a fall.
Born January 13, 1927 in Elkhart Indiana to Joseph and Irene (Farver) Artley. She grew up in Elkhart and Shipshewana Indiana.
Jo Ann studied Art at Indiana University and Nursing at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Married on June 26, 1949 to Norman Bradford (Ben) Preece. Jo Ann was a young mom of the fifties. Playing bridge and golf and going to cocktail parties, volunteering for the PTA. They raised their  family in Connecticut, New York, Ohio and Utah.
She was a fabulous cook by trade and at home. She worked at numerous restaurants in Salt Lake, on an oil rig in Wyoming and owned a catering business. She worked for many years at Ralph Longg's in Athol before retiring.
Predeceased by parents, husband and sister Marilyn Whitmyer. She is survived by her five children. Melanie L. Preece, Everett J. Preece and wife Vicki, Brady Thompson and husband Ben, Chipp  J. Preece and wife Beverly, and Casey J. Preece.
Jo Ann also had seven grand children. K.C. Preece (Julia), Reta Gant, Daniel Thompson, Lily Thompson (Christopher), William Thompson  (Heather), Michael Preece and Preston Jack Bassett.
She also enjoyed seven great grandchildren.,  Finnegan, Irie, Giacomo, Karim, Jolie, Tommy and Wilson; Jo Ann leaves beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and large extended family.
She resided in Tully at Stonewall Farm for twenty years and was a long time member of The Community Church of North Orange and Tully. She loved being a member of that community.
Jo Ann was a friend to all and was deeply loved. She will be missed.

There are no calling hours.

A service will be held on Sunday, December 3rd at 2:00 p.m., at The Community Church of North Orange and Tully, corner of Main Street and Creamery Hill, North Orange.

 A celebration of life is also being planned for May 2018 in Salt Lake City.
