Katherine L. Dubia

ATHOL- Katherine “Kay” Dubia Roy, more lovingly known as Mom, Gram, and May-May, peacefully passed away in her sleep at home in the early hours of October 25, 2017, surrounded by her family. She recently celebrated her 94th birthday on October 8th.

Kay was born in 1923 in Albany, New York to Florence Olcott and Clarence Dubia. At age 2, her mother died and she was orphaned, having never known her father.

While the beginning of her life was far from ideal, she spent the majority of her adult life surrounded by people that loved her deeply and she loved deeply in return. Family was extremely important to her, and she was lucky to have the opportunity to live with all of her close family members at one point or another.

Although small in stature, Kay was feisty and full of life, and always had to have the last word. When she was younger, she regularly went out dancing on the weekends with her husband, Arthur.

Kay enjoyed playing cards, which she frequently cheated at, had an endless sweet tooth and appreciated a clean kitchen, as well as spending time with her cats and her beloved corgi, “Ted E. Bear”.

She continues to be loved by her son and daughter in law, Raymond and Janet Roy; her grandchildren, Sonya and Jeff Davis, and Eric and Elissa Roy; her great granddaughter, Dannielle Roy and her fiancé, Chris O’Leary, whom she claimed as her own great grandson.

Kay is predeceased by her mother, father, son and husband, joining them in heaven.

A calling hour will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2017 from 1-2 p.m. at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 29th at Witty’s Funeral Home in Orange

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the North Quabbin Regional Animal Control, with checks made out to "The Town of Athol", c/o Athol Police, 280 Exchange Street, Athol, MA 01331, as she took great comfort in every animal companion she was blessed to have.

Interment in South Cemetery, Orange, will be private.

Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange, is directing the arrangements.
