Phyllis M. Bigwood
WARWICK- Phyllis M. (Duncklee)(Carson) Bigwood, 85, of Wendell Road, died peacefully at home on Monday afternoon, January 15, 2018 with loved ones at her side.
Born on February 19, 1932 in Warwick in the house she was living in, she was a daughter of the late W. Clark and Reba (Guillan) Duncklee and grew up in Warwick and attended New Salem Academy.
Phyllis was first married to Walter Carson on October 2, 1949 and later married William Bigwood in 1974.
Phyllis had lived in Orange from 1949 until 1976 when she moved back to Warwick.
Employed by M.O.C Childcare- Headstart, Phyllis retired after serving 39 years with the agency as a social worker.
Phyllis enjoyed some friendly gambling games, was an avid reader, but most importantly, a grandmother that loved and cared for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed bird watching.
Phyllis is survived by her loving children, Diane L. Jones of Raleigh, North Carolina, Priscilla A. Curtis and her partner, David Karras, of Warwick, William A. Carson of Athol, Pamela M. Cumberlander and her husband, Wayne, of Westfield, Ronda L.. Stewart and her husband, Paul, of Spofford, New Hampshire and Janet M. Shaw of Athol; ten grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and one great, great grandchild.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 1-3 p.m. at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.
There are no formal services planned.
Interment in Warwick Center Cemetery will be private.
