PHILLIPSTON- Roberta I. (Hubbard) Hanes, 92, of Baldwinville Road, died early Thursday morning, October 19, 2017 at Heywood Hospital in Gardner.

Born in Halifax, Vermont on April 5, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Rolland W. and Effie I. (Aiken) Hubbard and moved from Vermont to Phillipston at the age of 7.

In 1956, Roberta married Emulous Hanes  and enjoyed 39 years of marriage until his death on October 24, 1995.

Employed by the former Union Twist Drill in Athol for 19 years, Roberta later became a personal care assistant for private clients before retiring.

Devoted to her loving family, Roberta had enjoyed raising her family as well as the grandchildren. An avid reader, she had also enjoyed camping.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the Dana Unit at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol.

Survivors include her children, Bruce Boutelle and his wife, Kathy, of Nokomis, Florida, Stephen Hanes of Fitchburg, Betsy Coolidge of Athol and Jonathan Hanes of Phillipston; grandchildren, Glenn Boutelle and his wife Cassie of Florida, Shannon Gurek and her husband Dale of South Hadley, Seth Smith of Athol, Roger Coolidge of Athol, Ryan Coolidge of Leominster, Amanda Hanes of Daytona, Florida, and Dillon Choquette of Daytona, Florida; four great, great grandchildren; and a sister, Lillian Brigham of Colrain.

There are no calling hours.

Funeral services and interment in Lower Cemetery, Phillipston, will be private.
