Susan J. Roach

ATHOL- Susan J. (Eddy) Roach, 92, formerly of Templeton Road, died Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing.

Born in Erving on April 10, 1926, she was a daughter of the late William F. and Esther F. (Bourbeau) Eddy and grew up in Erving,  graduating from Orange High School.

On February 6, 1946, Susan married Forrest G. Roach and enjoyed 59 years of marriage until his death on June 27, 2005.

Employed by the Erving Paper Mill for many years, Susan had also worked at Mohawk Millworks and the Coat Factory in Orange.

A member of the Athol American Legion Post 102 Auxiliary, Susan helped with numerous meals and events. She also attended the Athol Congregational Church.

Susan enjoyed making and braiding rugs, sewing and doing puzzles.

Survivors include her siblings, Corina Bezio of Erving, Donald Eddy of Winchendon, Connie Brown of Turners Falls, Rose Clough of Orange, Evellyn Costello of Erving, and William “Buster” Eddy of Florida; along with many nephews and nieces.

Besides her parents, Susan was predeceased by sisters, Irene Sobieski, Charity Lehman and Florence Whitmore, as well as a brother, Alfred Eddy.

A calling hour will be held on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 from10:30-11:30 a.m. at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.

A funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Candi Ashenden officiating.

Following the service, interment will be in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Athol Congregational Church, 1225 Chestnut Street, Athol, MA 01331.
