Theresa M. Obue

ATHOL- Theresa M. (Gallant) Obue, 89, of Kennebunk Street, died peacefully at home early Wednesday morning, September 27, 2017 with family at her side.

Born in Rumford, Maine on July 8, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Hubert and Bertha (Buotte) Gallant.

Theresa was married to Ernest J. Obue and they enjoyed 54 years of marriage until his death in 2007.

Raising six children, Theresa had also worked as a waitress at the former Whitney’s and Fox Run Restaurants, as well as a hygienist for Dr. Talbot, D.D.S.   Theresa had also worked for Ames Trophy and the Red Apple Farm, as well as volunteering at the GVNA Healthcare Adult Day Care in Athol and in the personnel department at Athol Memorial Hospital.

Theresa was a long time member of Our Lady Immaculate Church in Athol.

Devoted to her family, Theresa enjoyed many family vacations together, especially at the ocean. She loved to crochet and made blankets for just about everyone. Theresa also  loved traveling.

Survivors include her loving children, Susan Farley of Athol and with whom she was living with, Michael Obue (Elizabeth) of Feeding Hills, Larry Obue (Lori) of Arvarda, Colorado, Nancy Elliott of Athol, Anita Obue (Jacqueline Peck) of Bernardston and Linda Bramhall (Dennis) of Orange; five grandchildren, Glenn Farley, Lindsey Obue, Ryan Obue, Stephanie Obue, and Maggie Bramhall; six great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Jackson, Collin, Lucas, Nathaniel and Elliana who was just born on July 8th, same birthday as Theresa.  She also leaves many nephews and nieces; brothers in law, Albert Obue (Pat) of Manchester, CT, and Benjamin Greene of Athol; and a very close friend, Jean Ryder of Athol.

Besides her parents and husband, Theresa was predeceased by her sisters, Olive, Lillian and Lucy, as well as brothers Albert and Andrew, and many beloved friends.

Calling hours will be held October 12, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.

A service and interment will take place on October 13, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Massachusetts Veterans’  Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, with Fr. Edwin Montana of Our Lady Immaculate Church officiating.

The family suggests donations in Theresa’s memory to Hospice of Franklin County, 329 Conway Street, Greenfield, MA 01301, the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701 or to donor’s choice.
