Winnifred H. Taylor Frye

Winnifred H. Frye ORANGE- Winnifred H. Taylor Frye, 90, of 390 Holtshire Road, died on Saturday morning, December 1, 2007 ay Athol Memorial Hospital, following an illness. Her last words were she had seen her angel and was going to God. Born on September 28, 1917 in Pittsfield, she was a daughter of James and Cora Lake Taylor and grew up in Pittsfield, graduating from Pittsfield High School in 1932. She later graduated from the University of Massachusetts- Amherst in 1936. Winnifred married Bradley L. Frye on September 17, 1936 and enjoyed 45 years together until his death on May 1, 1981. She served as the secretary and treasurer of her husband's general contracting company, B. L. Frye, Inc. for many years. Winnifred was a member of the Orange Congregational Church and served on the Church Council as well as the Deaconate. An avid card player, she was an excellent contract bridge game player, loved doing the New York Times crossword puzzles, tending to her flower gardens, and was devoted to the Boston Red Sox, which she was thankful they won three World Series during her lifetime. Survivors include her sons, David Frye, and his wife, Dorothy, of Orange, Stephen Frye of Stuart, Florida, and James Frye and his companion Theresa, of Florida; daughters, Kathleen Mosher, and her husband, Jeffrey, of Orange, and Sally Davis, of Orange; eleven grandchildren; and many great grandchildren. Besides her beloved husband Bradley, she was predeceased by a son, John Philip Frye in 1945 and a grandson Robert. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 from 5-7PM at Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange. A funeral service will be held Wednesday morning, December 5, 2007 at 10:00AM at the Orange Central Congregational Church, 93 South Main Street, Orange, with Rev. Megan Leary officiating. Interment will follow in Holtshire Cemetery, Orange.
