Adelbert F. "Del" Merchant Jr.

ROYALSTON- Adelbert F. “Del” Merchant Jr.,68, died peacefully at home with his wife at his side, following an illness.

Del was born in Montague on March 25, 1955 and was the son of Adelbert F. Merchant Sr. and Margaret M. (Torstensen) Merchant and grew up in Sterling, graduating from Wachusett Regional School in 1973.

On February 19, 2011, Del married Alice (Dickson), whom he had known since the 1980’s, and have enjoyed their 22 years of marriage.

Del was a second shift supervisor at Sterling Manufacturing Co. where he had been employed for 34 years before retiring in 2014.

An avid New England Patriots fan, Del also enjoyed traveling in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

Del is survived by his loving wife, Alice Merchant of Royalston; his sisters, Yvette LaCroix of Orange and Theolinda Merchant of Monson, ME; step daughters, Laurie Bradley of Gardner and Jennifer Strimbeck of Gilsum, NH; five grandchildren; and extended family.

Del was predeceased by his parents, a brother, Clifton Nadeau, sisters Susan Roseberry and Darlene Boynton, and a nephew, James LaCroix.

There are no calling hours and services will be private.
