ORANGE- Alana S. (Higgins) Cox, 73, of Holtshire Road, died on Monday, July 31, 2023 at the Uiversity of Massachusetts Memorial Campus in Worcester.
Born on January 18, 1950 in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, she was the daughter of Howard H. and Muriel M. (Robbins) Higgins and lived in Vermont until age 12 when the family moved to Greenfield, Massachusetts where she attended school and graduated from Greenfield High School in 1968.
Previously married, Alana found happiness in a second marriage to Timothy Cox in 1991.
Following high school, Alana attended hairdressing school and worked at several shops in Greenfield until opening her own salon.
Following a couple cross country moves, she returned to Greenfield where she became the manager of Friendly’s, later becoming the office manager of the Donahue Institute at the University of Massachusetts Amherst until retiring. Following retirement, she spent 3 years learning the Alexander Technique of body healing and had a studio in her home.
Alana loved taking care of plants, her pets and traveling. She loved her family and was passionate about dancing. Alana also enjoyed camping and vacationing in the Caribbean.
Survivors include her husband, Timothy Cox, of Orange; sons, Todd Feyrer and his wife, Jennifer, of Rindge, NH, and Ryan Feyrer and his companion, Brandy Patch, of Orange; grandchildren, Cameron Feyrer and Victoria Feyrer; a brother, Gregory Higgins and his wife, Rebecca, of Athol; 2 nieces and 1 nephew, along with 2 cousins.
Alana was predeceased by her parents.
There are no calling hours.
A celebration of life will be celebrated at the Orange American Legion, 40 Daniel Shays Highway, Orange, on August 19, 2023 from 1-5 p.m.
