Albert R. Hebert
ORANGE- Albert R. “Al” Hebert, 85, of Putnam Street and formerly of Mechanic Street in Athol, died peacefully on Friday evening, December 25, 2020 surrounded by loved ones.
Born in Waterville, Maine on January 1, 1935, he was the son of Alphie and Isabelle (Dufault) Hebert.
Al was the life partner of Randy Wagner who died on December 8, 2020. They are reunited again in partnership and love.
Al served with the United States Navy in Portsmouth , NH as a corpsman in the Naval Hospital.
He trained to become a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Chelsea (MA) Soldiers’ Home, later graduating from Wachusett Community College in Gardner in 1961, becoming a Registered Nurse.
Employed at Athol Memorial Hospital since 1973, Al became the night supervisor in 1988.
Al was a certified CPR advisor and instructor, a relief nurse at Rodney Hunt Company, and a school nurse at Ralph C. Mahar Regional.
A member of the Massachusetts Nurses Association, Al also belonged to American Assembly of Men in Nursing, Massachusetts Oncology Nurse Specialties, Future American Academy in Nursing, past president of the Athol-Orange Regiional Nurses Association, a Eucharistic Minister with St. Mary’s Church in Orange and serving on the Parish Council.
Al was a member of the Orange Kiwanis Club, Knights of Columbus, Disabled American Veterans as well as the Disabled Veterans Bay State Association.
Al leaves his siblings, Robert Hebert of Los Angeles, CA, Phil Hebert of Waterville, ME, Marie Pelotte of Waterville, ME, Lucy Bates of Florida, and Maryjane Poulin of Waterville, ME.
Besides his parents and partner, Al was predeceased by a sister, Jeanette Breau in 1992, as well as a close friend, Ronald Desmarais in 2005.

Services will be held at a later time.
