BARRE- Andrea  E. (Belcher) Goodwin, 87, of Barre, died early Wednesday morning,October 23, 2019 at home following an illness, with her family at her side.

She was bornSeptember 27, 1932. She was a daughter of H. Elgin Belcher and Viola (Spinney) Belcher and was a life-long resident of Barre. She graduated from Barre High School in 1950.

She was a third generation florist and worked in the business her parents established in Barre in 1930, Belcher’s Flowers, as well as Suunyside Greenhouse in Worcester and several other floral shops.

In addition to raising her family, Andrea served as a leader of Cub Scouts, Brownies, Girl Scouts and 4-H She was a teacher’s aide at the High Plains School in Barre and was the first manager of the Barre Nutrition Site. She worked in home health and as a companion for the elderly for many years.

She was a past president of the Barre Women’s Club and had been a member of the Friday Club and of the Ann Marie Cancer Society. She served on the Barre Council On Aging for many years.

She fulfilled her dream of owning a gift shop, “Cat Alley Artisans” of Barre.

After retiring, Andrea spent many hours volunteering at the Barre Senior Center and using her artistic talents decorating for programs and events. She loved her hometown and its people and touched many with her kind heart.

Andrea is survived by her three children, Suzanne Harty and her husband Alan Harty of Barre; Barbara Tappin and her fiance’, Peter Markert, of Hardwick, and Kenneth Goodwin and his wife, Ann Goodwin, of Barre; She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Aimee (Harty) Daly of Georgetown, Brendan Harty of Ipswich, Caleb Harty of North Reading, MicheleTappin  of  Worcester and Jonathan Tappin of Greenville, Maine, Kathleen (Goodwin) Kulakusky of Northboro and Ryan Goodwin of Barre; also ten great grandchildren, Zachary and Norah Daly, Eliza and Elliott Harty, Molly and Emma Tappin, Lilly and Matthew Kulakusky and Kiley and Eileen Goodwin; and by her sister and brother in law, Lucille (Belcher) and Lawrence Begin of Punta Gorda, Florida; as well  as several nieces and nephews.

As was Andrea’s wish, there are no funeral services or calling hours.

Friends of Andrea are invited to stop by the Grandview Terrace Hall, Ruggles Lane, Barre on Sunday, November 3rd between 1 and 3 p.m, to visit and share memories.

A private family service will be held at the East Street Cemetery in Petersham.
