NEW SALEM- Anthony Wayne Haydocy 60, of New Salem MA passed away May 19, 2023 at UMASS Memorial.
Born March 26, 1963 in Camp Pendleton California to Barbara A. (Bednarz) and Eugene Haydocy, Tony was the oldest of four boys. At the age of 14, Tony worked alongside his Uncle at the Orange Cash and Carry lumberyard. That job aided in creating a successful career in the lumber and building business for over 40 years. Tony’s broad knowledge of the trade made him deeply respected and highly sought after by contractors all over New England.
A fantastic chef, Tony helped to cater many events at the Orange Gun Club and the Athol Orange Elks Lodge as well as being a member. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and always had a recipe for his catch of the day. There was never an occasion where food wasn’t a priority or where you wouldn’t catch him singing his own musical renditions.
In 1983, he married his high school sweetheart Terri-Lynne (Stevens) and would have celebrated 40 years of marriage this August.
Being a kind and dependable “Bump” to his grandchildren was of utmost importance. Every weekend there was some sort of adventure that always resulted in wrapping the day up with where the best hot dog, seafood or ice cream could be found. No movie request was ever turned down, and there was never a bad day for going to the beach or the arcade.
Aside from his Wife and Mother, Tony leaves behind his children Sarah (Arik), Justin (Tenille) and George (Autumn); 10 Grandchildren, Spencer, Rhianna, Riley, Brooklynn, Chase, Rholand, Parker, Charlotte, Presley and Josie. He is also survived by his brothers Todd (Cheryl), Timothy (Marla) and Thomas (Denise); nieces Carley (Drew) and Chelsy (Clayton); his close friend Uncle George; colleague and friend Zack Germaine; Jaime and Alexia Matuszko whom he considered family and many other extended family members.
He was pre deceased by his sister Christina; father Eugene; and grandson Rhyse James.
