Barbara J. (Ames)(Collins) Gamache

ATHOL- Barbara J. (Ames)(Collins) Gamache, 81, of Chase Road, died peacefully Thursday morning, May 14, 2026 at Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol.

Born in Gardner on April 25, 1945, she was the daughter of Forest and Mildred (Duguay) Ames.

In 1979 Barbara and her husband, Roland J. Gamache Jr. started a life-long passion of building their own home and landscaping it where they entertained family and friends throughout their marriage. Roland died on October 2, 2020.

For years, Barbara and Roland enjoyed hiking the Quabbin, going to the beaches at Hampton as well as trips to the Bahamas, but both really found the mountains of Conway, NH to be their favorite place.

Barbara is survived by her children, Davida Collins and Kris Collins, both of Athol; eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

There are no calling hours.

A celebration of life with family and friends will be held at later date.

Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange, is assisting the family.
