Warwick — Beth Gilgun, 69, passed away on December 18, 2021.
She lived in Warwick, MA, where she served as one of the town's assessors, newsletter editor, treasurer, and was active on the cultural council. In addition, she was a historian, employed by the Pocumtuck Valley Memorial Association in Deerfield, MA, from 2002-2019. She worked with teachers and helped to create several of the museum's websites.
History was Beth's passion. She restored two historic houses and is the author of Tidings from the 18th Century, a book internationally recognized as the "primer" on 18th-century clothing and life skills. She was also a seamstress for historical re-enactors and a consultant and prop supplier for films which include Benjamin Franklin (PBS) Sommersby, Heart of Darkness, and Interview with a Vampire.
Beth is survived by her partner, Geoff Jones of New Salem, MA, her brother Newell Gilmour of Gladwyne, PA, her sister Laurel Mayer of Franklin, NC, nephew Ray Mayer of Booneville, AR, and niece Molly Phillips of Franklin, NC.
Beth's generous heart, helping hands, and infectious laughter will be greatly missed.
