ERVING- Beverly J. (Bissell) Care, 87, of East Prospect Street, died peacefully at home on the evening of October 24, 2023, surrounded by loved ones.
Born in Burke, Vermont on June 3, 1936, she was the daughter of William R. and Marion A. (Spencer) Bissell and moved to Massachusetts in 1937. She attended schools in Spencer until the family moved once again to West Brookfield where she graduated from North Brookfield High School in 1955.
Beverly worked at the Mary Lane Hospital from 1955 to 1956 before going back to school at the School of Household Nursing in Boston.
On July 7, 1974, Beverly married William J. Care and enjoyed over 32 years of marriage until his death on March 28, 2007. Beverly had previously been married to Theodore F. Lemieux.
Beverly bought Reed Nursing Home in Shelburne Falls, which later became Riverview Nursing Home and Mohawk Manor.
Beverly enjoyed camping and traveling, the Boston Red Sox and gambling.
She had served as treasurer for the Erving Congregational Church for numerous years beginning in 1975.
Survivors include her daughter Connie Hall of Erving; sons, Verne Lemieux of Ft. Collins, Colorado, and William Lemieux of Erving; six grandchildren, TJ, Matt, Christina, Kari, Michael, and Tiffany; great grandchildren, JJ and Ben with another on the way; and several cousins.
Besides her parents and husbands, Beverly was predeceased by a son, Richard “Richie” Lemieux in 1984.
There are no calling hours.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 10 a.m. at the Erving Congregational Church, 4 East Main Street (Route 2), Erving.
