ATHOL- Brian K. Woodbury, 62, of Intervale Avenue died unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 after being stricken ill.
Born in Athol on March 21,1962, he was the son of the late Roland E. “Woody” Woodbury Sr. and Janet M. (Fournier) Woodbury and grew up in Orange, graduating from Ralph C. Mahar Regional in 1980. While at Mahar, Brian was a standout football player for the Senators.
Following high school, Brian enlisted in the United States Navy on October 27, 1980 and was honorably discharged on October 24, 1986. Brian served on the USS Karl Vinson, the Navy’s third Nimitz-class super carrier.
Brian was married to Wanda L. (Shufelt) who died on August 14, 2014.
Employed by the L. S. Starrett Co. for over 20 years in the Packing Room, he retired from there.
Brian had worked at Parachutes, Inc. packing parachutes which lead to his love of parachuting with over 170 jumps. He was also a Dolphin’s football fan.
Brian had been a member of the former Athol-Orange Elks Lodge #1837 for over 20 years, as well as a member of the Wheelerville Community Club.
Brian always had an outgoing personality and could always make people laugh and smile where ever he went. Besides being a people pleaser, he was a great and loving father who always made sure his kids had a great childhood and will always be remembered as the great man and role model he was.
Survivors include his loving son, Seth Woodbury and his wife Aimee, of Athol; a daughter, Morgan Woodbury of New Hampshire; a grandson, Wyatt Woodbury of Athol; brothers, Scott Woodbury of Athol, Roland Woodbury Jr. and Michael Woodbury, both of Orange; a sister, Charlene Woodbury Ellsworth of Orange; and many nephews and nieces.
Besides his parents and wife, Brian was predeceased by a daughter, Brittany Bailey on August 14, 2008.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Orange American Legion, 40 Daniel Shays Highway, Orange.
