ATHOL- Bruce Benoit, 73, of Western Avenue, died Sunday evening, June 20, 2021 at Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol.
Born in Montague on February 29, 1948, he was the son of the late Wilfred H. and Emily L. (Hubbard) Benoit and grew up in Warwick and graduated from Pioneer Valley Regional School in Northfield.
Bruce had been a self employed trucker for many years, traveling coast to coast. He also worked for Jon “Tanka” McLaughlin Paving for 15 years as well as helping build the concrete plant on Daniel Shays Highway in Orange.
He met Betty Floran in 1989 and have enjoyed their 32 years together.
Bruce enjoyed coaching youth sports for a number of years.
Survivors include his long time companion, Betty Floran, of Athol; his children, Jen Gabrenas, and Jill Muzzey and her husband, Dan, all of Athol, Sheana Fisher and her husband, Dustin, of Orange and Shawn Floran of Winchester, NH; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
Besides his parents, Bruce was predeceased by half brothers, Richard “Dick” Taylor and Kenneth Benoit.
There are no calling hours.
A graveside service will be held on July 10, 2021 at 10 a.m. in the Warwick Center Cemetery, Orange Road (Route 78), Warwick.
