Bruce M. Carey

ATHOL- Bruce M. Carey, 64, of Daniel Shays Highway, died on Friday, January 27, 2023 at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Healthcare Campus in Worcester.

Born in Gardner on September 24, 1958, he was the son of the late Robert and Loretta (Porter) Carey and grew up in Athol, graduating from Athol High School in 1976.

Bruce had served in the United States Marine Corps from 1976 to 1980.

On March 12, 2005, Bruce married Jeanne (Dowling) and enjoyed over 17 years together.

Bruce was a machinist at Pak4.

An avid sports fan, Bruce especially enjoyed baseball and football.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Carey, of Athol; step sons, John Turner and is wife, Tara, of Lowell, and Matthew Turner of Newark, DE; grandchildren, Claire Turner and Margo Turner; a sister, Sharon Humphrey and her husband, Ed, of North Carolina; brothers, Robert Carey and his wife, Mary, of Athol, Brian Carey and his wife, Donna, and Mike Carey and his wife, Linda, all of North Carolina, and Frank Carey and his wife, Amy, of California; and many nephews, nieces and grandnephews and grandnieces.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Brenda Smith, as well as brothers Russell Carey and Norman Carey.

There are no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 6, 2023 at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 19 Congress Street, Orange, with Fr. Shaun O’Connor officiating.

Interment will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery, Athol.
