Calvin J. Fellows Obituary

WARWICK- Calvin J. Fellows, 91, died at home on Monday September 2, 2024 after a 3 year battle with renal failure.

Born in Warwick on January 21, 1933, he was the 13th of 14 children born to the late Archie J. Fellows Sr. and Vida A. (Brown) Fellows Miller.  He attended Warwick Elementary and graduated from New Salem Academy in 1951.  Calvin was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1953 to 1957.  He completed the fledgling Air Force School for Survival program achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant.  Calvin had a 35-year career at Rodney Hunt Company, in Orange, starting on a 5-year apprentice program and retiring as the supervisor of the pattern department.

Calvin married Fredericka Harris on August 13, 1960.  They enjoyed 64 years of marriage, raising their family, making countless friends and tirelessly volunteering in Warwick serving in numerous positions within the town government, fire department and Historical Society.  As long-time coach of the town youth baseball team he was able to impact the lives of many young people.  As one former player said, “I’m not sure if the man knew half the good he did for the kids of Warwick.”  He loved to do things anonymously, mowing a lawn, or snow blowing for a neighbor. His wife would often volunteer him to help coworkers or neighbors, he always complied with a smile!

Above all, family was the most important part of his life.  His happiest moments were spent with family.  Nothing brought a smile to his face like helping his children, showing up with his toolbox or chain saw.  As a grandfather he was quick to drive to games, concerts and was always interested in the things that were important to their lives.  Family gatherings accentuated his sense of humor which was always a strength. He and Freddie enjoyed vacations visiting relatives from Maine to Florida, taking leisurely drives and exploring historical sites.

He will be remembered for his smile, kind heart, helping hand, humor and stories of his many adventures.

Calvin is survived by his beloved wife, Freddie; children Jeff and Katie Fellows, David Fellows, Janice Hall, Beth and Chris White; grandchildren Aaron and Shannon Fellows, Matt and Michelle Fellows, Maya Hall, Leah Hall, Justin White and Calvin White; great-grandsons Owen and Cameron Fellows; a brother Warren and Fern Fellows; sister-in-law Virginia Fellows and many nephews and nieces.

He was predeceased by his parents, his stepfather Clayton Miller, son-in-law Bertram Hall and 12 loved siblings.
