Carol A. (Courteau) Best

PETERSHAM- Carol A. (Courteau) Best, 80, of East Street, died on Saturday afternoon, September 23, 2023 surrounded by her family..

She was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on August 28, 1943, the daughter of the late Albert and Dorothy Courteau. She grew up in Worcester and graduated from Holy Name High School.

Carol worked for Paul Revere Insurance after high school and the Petersham Country Store.

On July 24, 1964, Carol married Robert Best.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Best, her son Raymond Best and grandson Raymond Scott and her partner Milton Scott.

Survivors include a daughter, Lynn Scott and her husband, Cye, of Petersham; a son, Scott Best, of Petersham; a daughter, Barbara Best , of Florence; and daughter, Elaine Best, of Winchendon; grandchildren, Jason and Amanda Scott of Petersham, Derek and Shawn Martin of Winchendon; her sisters, Pat Beland of Dudley and Diane Niford of Worcester.

Carol was a stay at home mom and loved to sing at church and was very active in the church and Lion’s Club. Carol loved to crochet and knit and also loved to go camping with her daughter and grandchildren.

Carol loved to help and volunteered in her community without being asked.

There are no calling hours.

A celebration of life will be held on October 7th at 2 p.m. at the Petersham Congregational Church, 21 North Main Street, Petersham.

In lieu of flowers, donation in memory of Carol Best be made to the Petersham Congregational Church, CIF Fund, P.O. Box 183, Petersham, MA 01366.
