ORANGE- Charlotte Nadine Parsons, 75, of Orange, Massachusetts passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
Nadine was born in Covington, Kentucky on December 11, 1950 to George and Bonnie Lavrinc of Norfolk, Virginia and spent her childhood growing up with her brother Wayne.
Nadine was married to Dennis Parsons for 54 years. They met while living in Norfolk, and the two started their lives together living in Greenfield, MA, Wyoming, and eventually settling down in Orange. She was an amazing mother of 5 children (Jennifer Parsons of Athol, Andrea Walsh of New Jersey, Sara (Michael) Kinzle of Missouri, Matthew (Elizabeth) Parsons of Orange, and Emily (Ben) Glace of Kansas. Nadine had always wanted to be surrounded by a big family, and eventually became known as Grammy and Mimi to her 17 grandchildren and one great grandson.
Nadine fiercely loved her family as wife, mother, and a grandmother, and was the glue that bonded them all together. She was the centerpiece of an amazing family and made everyone around her feel as if they were the most important person in her life.
Nadine was an active member in the community and held several part time jobs to support her growing family. She was best known for working over twenty years in the kitchen of Dexter Park Elementary School as a loving Lunch Lady. Nadine always received such joy when former students would approach her in public and tell her how much they missed her and how important she made them feel. She also dedicated several summers to running the O.A.S.I.S program, where she joyfully taught students how to cook food on their own. Nadine was happiest when working with and helping children. Later she would go on to serve as a member of the Mahar Regional School Committee, a role that she took very seriously and always made the students her main priority. She would never get pulled into the political debates, but would always steer the committee with her heart towards the best interest of the “kiddos.” Throughout her life in Orange, Nadine was always invested in the community, always looking for ways to help children and families in the Orange area.
When Nadine wasn’t spending time with family, she was an avid reader. As children, we were never surprised to see her with a stack of 4 or 5 books when leaving both the Millers Falls and Wheeler Libraries. When she wasn’t reading at the kitchen table, Nadine could often be found on her walks through the center of town. With her headphones on, there was no type of weather that could deter her.
The family would like to thank the dedicated team in the Dana Unit at Quabbin Valley Healthcare who took such good care of Nadine over the past four years. They treated her and our family with love and respect. A special thanks to Amanda, Steve, and Julia.
She will be forever loved and missed.
Per Nadine’s request, there will be no calling hours or memorial services, and in lieu of flowers donations can be made to Friends of Wheeler Memorial Library, 49 East Main Street, Orange, MA 01364 or to the Millers Falls Library, 23 Bridge Street, Millers Falls, MA 01349 in her memory.
