ATHOL- Constance “Connie” F. (Batchelor) Castine, 86, life-long resident of Orange and Athol area, died on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Heywood Hospital in Gardner.
Born in Athol on January 3, 1935, she was the daughter of Grant and Elsie (Jones) Batchelor and graduated from Orange High School in 1952. She later went on to the Beauty Academy of Springfield where she earned her hair styling diploma in 1955.
Connie worked in the Orange, Athol, and Greenfield areas, ending with owning her own shop for five years in Orange known as “Connie’s Casuals”.
Connie was a cook for Meals on Wheels for two years and had volunteered until 2007. She also attended Athol Salvation Army.
An avid gardener, Connie also enjoyed piano, playing cards and decorating, but most of all, time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Connie is survived by children, Jeff Castine of Orange, Cheryl Charlonne of Las Vegas, NV, and Darryl Castine and his wife, Gif, of Chaing Mai, Thailand; daughter in law, Patty Castine Ferris of Athol; grandchildren Jeffrey Castine of Athol, Mark Laparle Jr. and Kayleigh Charlonne, both of Las Vegas, NV; great grandchildren, Dylan Castine, Aubrey Castine, Brooklyn Castine, Ella Castine, John Castine, Raymond Castine, all of Athol and Devin Chouinard and Brayden Chouinard, Logan Laparle and Mariah Chouinard, all of Las Vegas, NV.
Besides her parents, Connie was predeceased by a brother, Donald Batchelor, grandsons, Ray Castine and Jonathan Castine, and a daughter in law, Sue Castine.
There are no calling hours.
Services will be private.
