Cory Alan Taylor

NEW SALEM- Cory Alan Taylor of 76 Elm Street and 2 Fay Road, New Salem, MA, passed away on October 22, 2020.

Born May 4th, 1979 in Greenfield, Massachusetts, he was the only child of Alane Lego Mallet.

Cory grew up in Orange. He loved skateboarding, snowboarding, mountain biking, 4-wheeling with his friends, but most of all he loved his cars- he knew them inside and out and could tell you everything about them. He went to many car shows and brought home many trophies.

Cory held many jobs starting at the age of 12 clearing tables. He owned several businesses all to do with cars. If he needed to know something he would take classes and held many certificates and licenses from bartending to realtor.

He had a love of art that was not main stream, and music that would soothe the soul. He took up gardening and plants and found peace in tending them. He always grew more than he could use and gave the extras away to the neighbors.

Cory had many friends throughout his life and was loyal to them all. His best friend, Christine Reppas, held a special place in his heart. She was a shoulder to cry on and ears to listen. Their bond could never be broken.

Cory loved his kids, Roxy, Scrappy, Momo, Bubba, and Nismo, his four legged family. They brought him so much joy- they were not just dogs and a cat, they were his family, he loved them and they loved him.

Cory leaves behind a large family. His mother, Alane Lego Mallet, who loved him more than life its self; Suzette Cummings, his aunt and second mother, her husband Mark and their children, Brenda, Macon, and Erin, of Barre;  Robin Kelley and her children Forest and Floyde, of Barre;  Patricia Castine of Athol and her son Jeff;  Heidi Lego of Nevada and her daughter Fraya; Paula Lego and daughter Tish; many second cousins, but one that always made him smile, Miss Abigail. He would always say, “what a happy face” when he saw photos of her. He loved them all.

Those that went before him, his cousins Jon and Ray Castine. Gone to soon but always in our hearts, Alan Lego AKA “beemps” his grandfather, Patricia Starkey his grandmother, John Taylor and Marion Taylor his grandmother in who’s arms Cory now rests along with his beloved dogs Roxy and Scrappy.

A message from his mother:

To all who want to attend this wake, I have to let you know that there is still an on-going case with Cory and the State Police, should you attend, the chances are very high that undercovers will also be around taking plate numbers and talking to those who attend like they knew Cory- they didn’t- they are looking for information. So please, don’t feel as if you need to attend. Cory would not want to subject you to what they have done to his mother. Please hold your loved ones close and tell them that you love them because someday God will want them back.

To those in his inner circle, you know who you are Danny, Keith and all you guys, thank you for loving my son and being such good friends.

Calling hours will be held on November 15, 2020 from 1-3 p.m. at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.

There are no formal services.
