Craig D. Ames

ORANGE- Craig D. Ames, 50, of North Main Street, died unexpectedly on Tuesday morning, June 6, 2023 at home after being stricken ill.

Born on February 22, 1973 at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi, and was the son of David B. and Patricia D. (Ellis) Ames. He had lived in Mississippi, New York, Alabama and California following his father’s career in the service before settling in Orange, MA in 1987.

During his younger years, Craig was involved in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.

Craig graduated from Ralph C. Mahar Regional School in 1991.

Craig had been employed by Harris Manufacturing in Orange and the former Homestead Restaurant.

Craig enjoyed fishing, watching movies as well as computers. He loved his cats who entertained him with their playful nature, like his favorite cat Garfield.

Craig got much enjoyment and satisfaction by helping others throughout his life.

Survivors include his parents, David and Patricia Ames of Orange; his siblings, Corey Michael Ames and his companion, Melanie Thorpe, of Turners Falls, Carrie Ann Lehmann and her husband, Michael, of Athol, Channon Patrice DiCiurco and her husband, Chan, of Framingham, Curtis John Frederick Ames and his wife, Catelyn Ames, of Orange, Culleen Denise June Ames of Greenfield, Clayre Destiny Joy Ames and her companion, Michael Stewart, of Orange, and Charlotte May Lynn Ames of Orange; several nephews and nieces, along with cousins, aunts and uncles.

Craig was predeceased by his grandparents, Leon and Nellie Ames, and Sam and Jean Ellis.

There are no calling hours.

A celebration of life will be held on June 22, 2023 at 6 p.m. at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.
