Daniel G. Bowers

ATHOL- Daniel G. Bowers, 52, of Shore Drive, died unexpectedly on Monday, January 3, 2022 at home after being stricken ill.

Born in Greenfield on January 31, 1969, he was the son of Duane K. Bowers and Denise (Gamache) and grew up in Athol, graduating from Athol High in 1988.

On January 26, 1990, Daniel enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served during Desert Shield/Storm and was honorably discharged on February 2, 1995 and served in the Reserves until October 15, 1997. While in the service he attained an Achievement Medal, Outstanding Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal and a National Defense Service medal, as well as a Longevity Award ribbon and non-commissioned Officer Professional.

Daniel had worked several jobs including the United States Postal Service and Spectrum Plastics in Athol.

An outdoorsman, Daniel enjoyed fishing and hunting, playing and watching football, as well as using computers.

Survivors his mother, Denise Gamache of Athol; his father, Duane Bowers of Orange; his brothers, Joseph Bowers of Orange, Wade Coffin of Athol and Adam Mahan of League City, TX; an aunt, Maureen Gamache of Athol; nieces, Arianna Mahan and Sierra Mahan; a nephew, Zedok Bowers; a cousin, Gregory Gamache of Athol; and many friends.

Daniel was predeceased by grandparents, Beverly Lavanway, Jason Bowers and Barbara Bowers.

There are no calling hours.

A funeral service will be held on January 20, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange, with Fr. Shaun O’Connor of St. Mary’s Church in Orange officiating.

Interment with military honors will follow in South Cemetery, Orange.
