ATHOL- David T. Griffith, 87, of Vine Street, died on November 30, 2023 at Heywood Hospital in Gardner.
Born in Coral Gables, Florida on May 11, 1936, he was the son of Perry and Gladys (Page) and moved to Athol as an infant and grew up in Athol, graduating from Athol High School in 1954.
In 1957, David married Carol A. (Gabrenas) and they have enjoyed 66 years of marriage.
David had served in the Army National Guard.
Employed by the L. S. Starrett Company for many years before retiring, David had previously worked at the J. F. McElwain Shoe Co.
David had been a member of the former Athol-Orange Elks Lodge #1837, as well as the American Legion.
His hobbies included playing cards and doing wood working..
Survivors include his wife, Carol Griffith of Athol; his children, Scott Griffith of Tennessee, Denise Burgess and her husband, Mark, of Orange, Debra Huddleston of Athol, Craig Griffith and his wife, Linda, of Athol,and Michael Griffith of Athol; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Rachel Robideau of Athol; a brother, Richard Griffith of Athol; and several nephews and nieces.
There are no calling hours.
A celebration of life will be held June 15, 2024 from 1-4 p.m. at the Orange American Legion, 40 Daniel Shays Highway, Orange.
