Deborah A. (Tatro) Shufelt Obituary

ORANGE- Deborah A. (Tatro) Shufelt, 74, of Kelton Street, died on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Athol Hospital, surrounded by loved ones.

Born at home in Berkshire, VT on May 27, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Merton A. and Arlene R. (Robtoy) Tatro, and grew up in Vermont, moving to Massachusetts in her early teens.

Deborah married Brian Shufelt on June 19, 1965, and later would remain friends following their divorce.

An assembler at the L. S. Starrett Co. in Athol, she was employed there over 30 years before retiring at age 60.

Deborah was a great cook and loved putting on huge meals. She also enjoyed doing puzzles, coloring, watching NASCAR, going to the Monadnock Speedway, TLC channel on TV, and any chance to catch a demolition derby. Deb loved her pugs, currently Zoey & Lucy.

Deborah liked to socialize at the Franco-American Club in Athol.

Survivors include her daughters, Wendy Kelleher and her husband, Jack, of Orange and Shelly St Hilaire of Athol; grandchildren, Caity McGuirk, Seth Woodbury, Devin Belden, Andrew Nicoletti, and Desiree Belden; great grandchildren, Sofia Fredette and Wyatt Woodbury.  Deb also leaves her sisters, Gloria King of Orange, Belinda Desreuisseau of Orange and Cynthia Houle of Athol; brothers, Merton Tatro Jr. of Athol and Michael Flagg of Montague; and many nephews and nieces.

Besides her parents, Deborah was predeceased by a daughter, Wanda Woodbury, a granddaughter Brittany Bailey, a great grandson Liam Woodbury, sisters, Brenda Castine and Sheila Vescovi, a brother Dale Tatro, and her step father Douglas Flagg.

There are no calling hours.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at 11 a.m. in South Cemetery, 585 South Main Street, Orange.

A pot luck celebration of life will follow at the Orange American Legion, 40 Daniel Shays Highway, Orange.
