Dennis J. Allen

ATHOL- Dennis James Allen of Pinedale Ave. and Peterboro, NH, died January 22, 2022 at Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol, MA, from complications of being a diabetic. He was 71 years old.

In 1999, he married Claire (Noel) Shute, and was working for Wilson Bus Lines in Templeton, MA for 17 years driving from Nova Scotia, Canada to Florida and west as far as New York and beyond.

His parents were James and Rita Allen and he was married to Claire for 23 years, living in Athol.

Dennis was an avid antique car buff and enjoyed working on them as well as attending numerous car shows and working in his garage for hours. Following retirement, he and Claire vacationed in Florida for several months during the winter for several years. They enjoyed trips to Hawaii and Canada as well.

Always willing to help people, Dennis took great pride in the buying, selling and repairing of mobility scooters to help those challenged in getting around.

Dennis leaves his wife, Claire Allen, and three step children, Dianne Blanchard and her husband, Paul, of Athol, Karen Cramm of Athol, and Steven Shute of Waynesboro, TN. He also leaves two grandchildren, Amy Crimlisk  and her husband Stephen, from Natick, MA and Joshua Blanchard and his wife Mackenzy, of Orange, MA; great granddaughters, Bailey and Aurora; a sister, Carol Myhaver and her husband, Alan, of Dublin, NH and Hobe Sound, FL; a niece, Andrea Drewry;  a nephew, Eric Myhaver; and two grandnieces, Sarah Myhaver and Megan Myhaver, all from the New Hampshire area. He also loved his cat, “Mr. Mookie”.

There are no calling hours and services will be held at a later date.

The family asks that flowers do not be sent.
