Dennis J. Cullen

ATHOL- Dennis J. Cullen, 68, of Adams Drive, died on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester.

Born in Athol on December 22, 1955, he was the son of Roger and Alberta (Sweeney) Cullen and grew up in Athol, graduating from Athol High School in 1974.

On June 19, 1975, Dennis enlisted into the Marine Corp and was honorably discharged on June 18, 1979 after obtaining the rank of Corporal.

He was married to Catherine “Cathy” (Lyesiuk) on February 14, 1997and have enjoyed 27 years together. He was previously married to Debra (North).

Dennis had been a supervisor at the Templeton Developmental Center for many years. He had previously worked at VCS, N. D. Cass Co., Union Twist Drill and L. S. Starrett Co.

Dennis enjoyed carpentry and woodworking, especially making tables, chairs and planters. He also enjoyed movies, telling jokes, playing guitar, and doing gardening and yard work, as well as fixing just about anything.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Cathy Cullen, of Athol; sons, David Cullen and his wife, Dodee, of Turners Falls, and Daniel Cullen and his wife, Brittany, of Westminster; a step son, Nick Desreuisseau of Athol;  step daughter, Amy Desreuisseau of Athol; thirteen grandchildren; nine siblings; along with extended family.

There are no calling hours.

A memorial service will be held on June 6, 2024 at 11:45 a.m. at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.

Interment with military honors will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, at 1 p.m.
