ATHOL- Donald C. Ambrozy, 91, of Pinedale Road, died peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones, on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
Born in Athol on March 24, 1934, he was the son of the late Charles B. and Nellie (Dopadlak) Ambrozy and grew up in Athol, graduating from Athol High School in 1953.
Don enlisted in the United States Army on October 24, 1956 and was honorably discharged on October 7, 1959.
On July 4, 1957, Don married Carol (Chase) and have enjoyed 68 years of marriage.
Don was employed at the L. S. Starrett Co. in Athol for 42 years and was a foreman when he retired in 1996.
A classic car enthusiast, Don loved going to car shows. He was also an avid fisherman.
A member of the Sportsmen’s Pond Association, he served as President for several years, and was also a member of the Quabbin Angler’s Association.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Carol Ambrozy of Athol; his son Richard and his wife Laura, of Athol; and grandchildren, Ryan Ambrozy of Saco, Maine and Rachel Ambrozy of Billerica.
Besides his parents, Don was predeceased by a sister, Stacia Ambrozy Nelson, and a brother, Chester Ambrozy.
A calling hour will be held Thursday, October 9, 2025 from 9:30- 10:30 a.m. at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, October 9, 2025 at 11:15 a.m. at Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School Street, Athol.
Interment with military honors will follow at 1 p.m. at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.
