ORANGE- Doris (Nana) Ann (Edwards) Fontaine born November 3rd,1949 has left us, peacefully in her sleep to be with her forever soulmate and late husband, Arthur.
Doris was a longtime beloved homemaker, mom, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt. Doris was an avid cook, loved to collect cookbooks, crafter, and reader. She loved cooking and baking, whether it be pies for the holidays, breads to send out in Christmas baskets, cakes for special occasions, or just a hot home cooked meal. She enjoyed cross stitch, sewing, and paper crafts, and was known for canning multiple variations of food, but most notably her jams, jellies, and relishes. In her spare time, she almost always had a book in her hand, reading about the lives of the Amish communities.
Doris is pre-deceased by her mother Arvilla (Corbett) Britt, her father Milton Edwards, her husband of 54 years Arthur Fontaine, and her sisters Mildred Willard, and May Pratt.
Nana leaves a sister Rosie Delfino of New Hampshire, a sister Marilyn Swenson of Texas, a daughter Jennifer Fontaine and her husband Mike Gorzkowicz of Orange, step-son Brian Fontaine and his wife Colleen of Connecticut, a step-daughter Brenda Marshall and her husband William of Colorado, grandchildren Whitney and her fiancé Clayton of Fitchburg, Rebecca and her significant other Aaron of Vermont, David and Aimee of Colorado, and Mary-Lee, Jessica, and AJ of Connecticut. She also leaves 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank Beacon hospice and our friend Moe for taking great care of her. Doris will be cremated and kept with her late husband’s ashes by the family.
There will be no services at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your local library in her name, as she would love for children to learn to and enjoy reading. Please leave your condolences and memories on Witty’s Funeral Home page for the family to read and enjoy.
