Dorothy M. (Hood) Arnold

ATHOL- Dorothy M. (Hood) Arnold, 96, of Patrick Avenue, died peacefully at home on Wednesday evening, November 1, 2023 surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Athol on February 5, 1927, she was the daughter of Lester J. Hood and Elizabeth (Gravel) Hood.

Dorothy was married to Robert G. Arnold, who predeceased her.

Dorothy had leased and operated Athol Diner from 1958 until 1971 with her husband Robert and had been employed at the diner since 1943. She had also worked for the First National Bank in Athol 30 years as well as at Athol Credit Union 15 years.

Dorothy had been a member of Our Lady Immaculate Church in Athol.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Parker of Athol; three grandchildren, Rae-Ann Parker Dodge, Renee Parker and Randy Parker; eight great grandchildren, Joe and Andrew Hache, Luke, Noah and Matthew Meunier, and Cody, Morgan and Ben Parker; along with many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Dorothy was predeceased by a son, Michael R. Arnold, a brother, Lester G. Hood, and sisters, Eleanor Stone and Patricia Wyman.

There are no calling hours.      

A memorial service will be held on November 25, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.

Interment will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery, Athol.
