PHILLIPSTON- Douglas Coleman Woods, Sr., age 82 of Phillipston, MA passed away from a prolonged illness on 29 June 2026 at his residence while under the care of Beacon Hospice.

Douglas was born on 25 June 1944 in Leominster, MA to Norman Hodges Woods, Sr., and Florence Eileen (Coleman).

On 7 March 1963, he entered the United States Air Force, where he served his country for 4 years as an Administrative Specialist. During his service he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal.

In April 1964, he married his first wife, Judith Elaine Sova in Washington, DC. and together they had a son, Douglas Coleman Woods, Jr.

In 1976, Douglas began working security at American Welding located in Warren, OH. In 2009, he retired after 33 years of employment with the company. Upon retirement, he began working for Sams Club in Youngtown, OH and retired again after 16 years.

In 1984 he met JuliaAnn (Powell) in Warren, OH; whom he later married on 18 May 1990 in Winchester, VA. and together raised a son, Anthony DiEuegnio. They celebrated their 37th Wedding Anniversary last month.

Douglas had numerous hobbies, which included completing jigsaw puzzles, bowling, golfing, and watching his favorite movie, The Godfather, favorite musical, West Side Story and favorite television show, Yellowstone. He also served several years as a Boy Scout Leader in Ohio, enjoying spending time with his son Douglas, Jr. 

Douglas had a humorous and fun-loving soul, always cracking jokes and living life to its fullest. He also had a hot temper, and sarcastic attitude that ran just as deep.

Douglas is predeceased by his 1st wife, Judith Elaine (Sova); sons; Douglas Woods, Jr. and Anthony DiEugenio; brother, Phillip (Linda) Woods; sisters; Becky (Joseph) Lynch, Joyce Kollenberg, and Linda (Elton) Smith.

Survivors include his wife, JuliAnn (Powell) Woods of Phillipston, MA; brother-in-law, John “Mick” (Jody) Sova of Cortland, OH; daughter-in-law, Karen Woods of Phillipston, MA; daughter-in-law, Dana (Tyler) Grafton of Steubenville, OH; granddaughter, Lara (Demitri) Woods from Phillipston, MA; grandson, Carmine DiEugenio and granddaughter Riley Grafton from Steubenville, OH; several nieces and nephews, and his Boston Terrier companion, Gracie.

Douglas had a treasure trove of close friends; he never met a stranger. He was especially grateful for his close friend Ray Miner who checked on him every day.

Douglas will be interred at Pineview Memorial Park Cemetery in Warren, OH. No services are planned.
