WINCHENDON- Douglas E.T. Maxwell Sr., 79 of Spruce St. Winchendon, passed away August 17, 2023, at Heywood Hospital with his children at his side.
He was born in Fitchburg on September 23, 1943, the son of the late Harry L. Maxwell and Marcia E. (Hancock) Maxwell.
He was last employed with Simplex in the Building Maintenance Department until retiring in 2003 due to health.
He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and a member of the Gardner Deep Sea Club.
His “hobbies” include flirting with the girls with a twinkle in his eyes and his devilish grin and tinkering in the backyard .
He leaves behind his legacy, 5 of 6 children, Douglas E.T. Maxwell Jr. and wife Haley of Orange, Edward Maxwell and wife Nancy of Spring Valley, CA, Kenneth Maxwell of Orange, his two lovely daughters Debra Gauthier of Wendell and Kimberley Carey and husband Jason of Orange. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews and friends.
Douglas was predeceased by his wife Bertha (Joy) (Sears) Maxwell, his two brothers, Stephen L. Maxwell and Gregory F. Maxwell, children’s mother Sandra L. (Lafrance) (Maxwell) Marlowe, a son Thomas E. Maxwell and son-in-law Keith E. Gauthier.
The family is holding a Celebration of Life on September 23rd, 2023 at the American Legion Post 193, 295 School St, Winchendon, MA between the hours of 1 p.m- 4 p.m.
