Gary L. Capuzzo Obituary

ORANGE- Gary L. Capuzzo, 71, of South Main Street, died early Friday morning, July 22, 2022 at home following an illness, with loved ones surrounding him.

Gary was born in Boston on October 6, 1950, the son of Fiore and Myriel (Dwyer) Capuzzo.

Gary served in the Army from July 29, 1968 until his honorable discharge on July 20, 1970.

He was married to Vicki (Down) for 47 years.

Gary was employed as a machinist at Raytheon from 1973 until 2003

An avid gardener, specializing in hot peppers, he also enjoyed Farmers’ Markets and appreciated the farmers who grew the food. Gary also loved cooking and trying a variety of spices (especially if it was hot!), going fishing and loved the trips to the Cape every year with the family. Gary was also a keen mushroom gatherer, and a lover of the Christmas season.

The family would especially like to thank the doctors and nurses from Athol Hospital, Heywood Hospital, St. Elizabeth’s, Care One, Beth Israel Deaconess and Care Central VNA & Hospice for all the care given to Gary and support to the family.

Gary leaves his wife, Vicki; children, Chris Capuzzo, Victor Capuzzo and spouse Andrew, Jerry Capuzzo and Elena Capuzzo; mother in law, Frances P. Down; brothers, Joe Capuzzo and his wife, Donna, and their family, Tommy Dwyer and his family; nephews, Stephen O’Brien and family, and Marc Mullen; Great nephews, Anthony Poirier; sisters and brothers in law, Kathy Down and Mark Logan and family, Nancy Aiguier and family, Lyndia and Frank Hester and family, Nila and Alan Beachman and family, and Ernie and Susan Aiguier and family; and numerous cousins and friends, especially his farm friends.

Gary was predeceased by his parents, step dad Tom Dwyer, sisters Susan Capuzzo and Sandy Mullen Cunha, a niece, Alicia Mullen, and a brother in law, Kevin Aiguier.

There are no calling hours.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at 11 a.m. at South Cemetery, 585 South Main Street, Orange, with Fr. William Lunney officiating.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave, Boston, MA 02215.
