George F. LaCoy

ORANGE- George F. LaCoy, 77, of Orange, passed away on April 6th, 2023 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

Born in Greenfield on April 12th, 1945, he was the son of Walter N. and Eileen M. (Kavanaugh) LaCoy. He attended Greenfield schools and graduated from Greenfield High School in 1963.

George spent most of his working life as a meat manager for Trifilo’s, sales rep for Fulton Packing and manager for Friendly’s. He retired as an assistant meat manager from Hannaford’s in Orange in 2013 and was now working part time for Life Path, working on the Meals On Wheels program.

George enjoyed NASCAR and had been too many races with friends and family over the years and was a steadfast Red Sox and Patriots fan. He very much enjoyed watching football games with his son Nick.

George was predeceased by his parents, his son Geoffrey who died in 1998, and his very beloved dog, Charlotte.

He leaves behind his wife of 24 years, Teri LaCoy; sons, Nick and his wife, Lorelie, Matthew, Kyle and his wife, Aliyah; a step son, Jeffrey Haines and his wife, Rachael; a step daughter, Sarah Gauvin and her husband, Dan; grandchildren, Nichole Wark, Jessica LaCoy, Nicholas (Bud) LaCoy, Sarah LaCoy, Courtney Harty, Cassidy Harty, Dylan Haines, and Aurora Haines; step grandchildren, Ryleigh Barton and Cooper Barton; a great grandson Connor Harty; a sister, Kathleen Burek and her husband, John; and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his former wife, Donna Rusoo-Stone; and closest friends, Mo Taylor, David Case, Alfred Chickering and Mike Leach and many more with whom he shared every Wednesday evening.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 5-7 p.m. at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 19 Congress Street, Orange, with Fr. Shaun O’Connor officiating.

Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Turners Falls.
