ORANGE- Gerald R. "Jerry" Brown, 79, of Red Brook Lane, died peacefully at home on Thursday morning, May 10, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Gardner on January 14, 1939, he was a son of Arthur H. and Ina V. (Richards) Brown and attended Athol schools.

Jerry served three years in the United States Army.

On June 29, 1963, Jerry married Gloria A. (Berry) and have enjoyed over 54 years together.

A truck driver, Jerry had worked for various companies including 14 years with Erving Motors and retired from R&D Transport in Winchendon.

Jerry was a life time member of the Wheelerville Community Club, joining in 1963, as well as a life time member of  Carb’s Hot Rod Club and a member of the Sno-Snooper’s Snowmobile Club.

Jerry was a skilled woodworker and enjoyed making things for family and friends. Gerald also was an excellent cook and enjoyed feeding everyone. He had also liked to go fishing.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Gloria Brown of Orange; children, Ruth Ann Hause of Orange, Richard Brown of North Carolina, Ronda Brown of Orange and Randy Brown of Athol; grandchildren, Jennifer, Richard Jr., Samantha, Sabrina, Brandon, Maria, Christopher and Cindy; and several nephews and nieces, along with many friends. Gerald was looking forward to seeing his first great grandchild expected in July.

Besides his parents, Jerry was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Yeager of Dayton, Florida, and by his brothers, Edward Brown of Jacksonville, Florida (who died the same day) and Robert Brown of Athol.

There are no calling hours.

A graveside service will be held at the West Orange Cemetery, West Orange Road (Route 2A), on May 25, 2018 at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the donor’s choice.
